Pretty good post, apart for all the self serving moral posturing and the inaccurate stuff about Goons scamming allies. I don't expect anyone here to believe this, but we actually love our allies and scamming them gets you kicked out so fast your head will spin. Yes, even on alts. Shame you never really fit in, Eleuthereus, but I'm not going to argue that GS is for everyone. I guess this will teach us not to show pubbies mercy or something. Lesson learned.

For insight into goon psychology, feel free to visit the well-known forum whose humor is based on ironic meta-mockery. I don't expect everyone to "get it", but then, not everyone can be a goon. From day 1 as a smallish swarm of t1 frigates we have been called a "cancer" and accused of everything up to and including destroying the universe IRL (omg teh goonies r so evil!). We make fun of that by pretending to be what people think we are. IN A GAME. ON THE INTERNET. We are not actually out to destroy eve. We are not actually out to destroy CCP. We love this game and we want to see it grow and prosper, but there are serious problems that need to be addressed with it that eventually really will destroy EvE if something is not done soon. Whether you agree with the way we decided (or were forced to,) address those problems, we know our intentions were good. Feel free to not believe me, but it's the honest truth. Yes, goons play evil monstrous bastards in an internet spaceship game. No one (particularly goons) is going to argue against that. Anyone who takes it too seriously needs to unglue themselves from the keyboard go outside for a while to absorb some sunlight.

No explicit approval, but it belies a permeating attitude thorughout GS that boils down to making Eve a living hell with griefing the game, players, and whoever else they don't like (remember, according to the State of Goonion speech, 90% of Eve). Griefing other players inside the game, within the rules of the game. There was nothing in the state of the goonion that condones or encourages destroying CCP or EvE, and there is nothing in Khefron's statement that encourages it either. All he says is that the only thing that will end goonswarm as an alliance is all of us being banned. How is that an encouragement to go out and get banned harming eve? Answer: It isn't. It's a statement of resolve to keep fighting no matter what. Tell me. Did you ever once see goons performing any of the many exploits we are regularly accused of on a regular basis? Besides the threadnaught (which was an effort to make CCP accountable when every other avenue to do so was closed) did you ever see anything that could be considered a concentrated and coordinated effort to "destroy EVE"? Because I never did. All I ever saw were people playing the game the way it was designed to be played, in the way that suited them best. In addition, Khefron's statement is completely and utterly out of context with the recent SOTG by months. I have to say eleuthereus, I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt before, but it's pretty clear what your intentions are when you deliberately mislead people like this. If your point was to say that goons play vicious heartless bastards within the rules of a space game on the internet, then I think that we have covered that territory already, and not a single goon denies it.

I pointed to the "War is Peace" reference to suggest that: 1. revelling in such puerile activity took the ability for many impressionable individuals to distinguish from them, 2. enabled those with such beliefs to propogate them, 3. those with 1/2 a brain to intellectualize it away, 4. those in positions of power exploit it. So what you mean is that we are brainwashed by puerile behaviour and exploited by our leadership, and it's not because we have fun being puerile?
